Name
The domain is the name people type. Hosting is just where the file lives.
Sitecraft gives you an index.html. A domain is how a customer finds it without a .pages.dev URL. You can buy a new name this afternoon, or keep the one you already renew every year.
If you do not have a name yet
- Search the shop name. Take the
.comif it is clean and not a trademark trap. - If the
.comis a squatter, a clear.shop,.cafe, or city TLD is better thanbest-shop-city-2026.com. - Cloudflare Registrar and Porkbun are usually cheaper and less upsell than the TV-ad registrars.
- Turn on WHOIS privacy. You do not need professional email on day one.
If you already have a domain
Do not buy another. Log into GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains’ successor, Squarespace, or wherever the bill goes. Find DNS (sometimes “manage nameservers”). That screen is where the host’s CNAME and A records go. If you change nameservers to Cloudflare, do that once, wait, then add records inside Cloudflare — not in both places.
What you are not buying
Site builders bundled with the domain, “SEO packages,” and ten mailboxes. A one-page shop needs the name, privacy, and DNS. Then put the HTML on a host.
